From Tangier - An Open Conversation Series with Alex! 2 / 6

Hey,

I hope you're doing great, as much as I do! Last week simply went by like a wink since Alex was in Tokyo, as he’s been invited by the Tokyo International Music Market (TIMM) and also the Tokyo International Film Festival (TIFF) to attend both events as a speaker (hello late night and early morning chats thanks to the 14-hour difference!). It also reminded me of last year when I was in Tokyo and Alex was in Frankfurt having dinner with some of our incredible German family, fans, and friends, and he gave me a call in the middle of the night and had me on speakerphone in the heart of that wonderful table!

Alex and Momoka’s past week in Tokyo has been a beautiful mix of music and film industry meetings around Kimiyo and A Measure of Shape and Sounds, as well as unforgettable gatherings with faithful friends and family, as always! Alex shared incredible stories with me where some people literally traveled by plane and train to simply say hello, touch Alex’s heart, leave a short prayer for him, and thank him for still being alive and well! I mean...! How beautiful, how human, how inspiring, and how grateful we are to have the chance to be part of such a beautiful family, one that has always been so supportive of Alex’s musical, personal, and artistic journey since we started back in 2006.

Our second tour ever as Your Favorite Enemies occurred in Japan in 2008, and it’s been followed by a two-song presence in the following year's Final Fantasy video game franchise. Japan always had a very unique place in Alex’s heart, and for him to go back, meet, and hang out with our incredible friends over there already impacted him deeply. Those colorful seeds will grow in an inspiring fashion as we’ll be heading to Tangier this Tuesday already, as you’re probably reading this missive!

Those memories will live on forever!

I went to the airport last night (Friday) to pick Alex and Momoka up. It was really great for me to hear and see Alex being in such a great mood after what has been an unforgettable trip to the land of the rising sun! My week has been a little different, around technical stuff around our trip to Tangier and spending time at the vinyl pressing plant where I hadn't been for a little while!

So blessed to have such a busy but fulfilling life! Thank you for being such an active part of it!!!

Like my favorite poet David Whyte says, "Real conversation occurs at the frontier between what we think is us and what we think is other than us."

Enjoy this week’s 2nd part of Alex and my conversation, exclusively for you!

Jeff
