From Tangier - An Open Conversation Series with Alex! 3 / 6
Nov 19, 2024
Hey,
I hope you’re doing great! You read that well! Today is Alex’s birthday, which was also my 3rd thing that is great in November! It’s the 2nd time we’re celebrating Alex’s birthday in Tangier. What a beautiful and memorable day this is going to be! I can’t tell you everything we have prepared in case Alex reads this missive before the party o'clock hits the mark! I’ll let you know about it all next week, but if you want to send some gifts, I strongly suggest you send those at our Quebec HQ! (the address at the end of the message is the right one)
As I shared with you last week, we left Montreal for Tangier last Tuesday evening and landed in Casablanca on Wednesday at around 8am! Traveling to Morocco with a lot of cases like we do is always kinda tricky since we basically have to wait for everyone to pick up their regular suitcases before they start bringing the oversize cases we came with! This usually takes between 90 minutes to 2 hours! So, here we are, right in front of the gray metallic doors, all smiling but internally screaming "Finally!!!", only to realize that 7 of our 21 cases went missing! Yes...! Air Canada strikes AGAIN!!!! It took us almost five hours to leave the airport and head to Tangier...! What a day already!!!
It’s Saturday morning as I’m writing this missive to you and guess what?!?! We haven’t received them yet! Supposedly tomorrow, Sunday! Unbelievable! Will let you know about this next week as well!
I’m listening to Neil Young's Living With War while writing this down following a 4-to-5-hour conversation we had the entire band together last Thursday after we spent the entire day walking in art galleries and bookstores, already working on keeping our spirits aligned with the WHY we’re here for almost 4 months! Alex shared about an entire magazine he read the night before on Neil Young’s passion to always fight the good fight, to always record ideas even if it meant waking people up at 4am to open the studio doors, etc. We all shared about incarnating this limitless, no-second-thoughts vibe, chasing and letting the right little seed to even keep you awake as long as there’s something new and fresh that comes out!
As James Clear puts it: The creative process
- Discover - Read a lot. Observe the world. Notice.
- Collect - Immediately record anything that strikes you.
- Generate - Build on your notes to brainstorm lots of ideas.
- Combine - Connect previously unconnected ideas.
- Refine - Edit, edit, edit. Select the best.
Enjoy this week’s 3rd conversation exclusively for you!
