From Tangier - An Open Conversation Series with Alex! 6 / 6
Dec 10, 2024
Hey,
I hope you’re doing great…! It’s Sunday, 12 pm, and I’m on the train from Rabat back to Tangier. I just came back from this incredibly vibrant city for the second time, as I’ve been invited by the Canadian Embassy to participate in the 2nd edition of the Moroccan Forum for the Creative and Cultural Industries as a speaker and jury. I’m so humbled by what I had the chance to see, hear, and witness, and I worked really hard to contribute and leave an inspiring mark in the lives of those incredible young entrepreneurs.
The governments of the European Union and, of course, Morocco are working together to create entrepreneurial programs to invest in young creative and cultural businesses as they are more and more starting to realize the importance of helping out entrepreneurs in creative fields such as music, fashion, interior design, AI, filmmaking, photography, jewelry making, and so on. I had this huge privilege to share about Alex’s and my unique journey as artist-entrepreneurs and how we ended up in Tangier, with the entire band recording our second album in this city we now call home. It’s a beautiful initiative, especially seeing what’s happening all over the world! Morocco will be home to the African Cup of Nations next year and will also host the FIFA World Cup in 2030 with Spain and Portugal.
I saw so many younger versions of Alex and myself through the eyes of those hundreds of young Moroccans working their asses off, dreaming of leaving a mark, dreaming of making a real difference, dreaming of reaching heights that even their own parents and surroundings are very skeptical of most of the time. I was mesmerized, humbled, and inspired to hear all their incredible stories, as I was part of the jury deciding to whom we should allow an incredible amount of money to help them reach the next level. Tough call! Very tough call! I wanted them all to win, and if I could, I would’ve helped them all. For me, seeing young men and women believing in their own selves, their own crafts, and how they spent countless hours without any help from anyone and seeing what they achieved was literally humbling!
I’m so thankful to be here, to live such a life, to participate in what is miles above my own self, and to infuse some fire, some hope, some life into what not only seems but is really close to being impossible for those young adults entrepreneurs.
I’m heading back to our studio, where it’s now our time to shine brighter than the stars! But I’m bringing such a beautiful bag loaded with incredible stories and dreams I promised to keep close to my heart…!
Thanks for all your incredible comments regarding the new Shadows of our Evening Tides video! It’s coming out tomorrow!!!
