I hope you’re doing great! December is already at its 3rd day out of its 31-day reign, which will mark the end of what has been such an incredibly intense—to say the least—year 2024 for Alex Henry Foster and The Long Shadows!

Today is a very particular day!!! Not only because today is Ben’s birthday, The Long Shadows’ guitarist and Alex’s main creative partner, neither because December is a month of celebration, gifts, and surprises, that mainly revolves around loads of mixed emotions, but because it's such an honor for me to share the last release of 2024 exclusively with you!!!

On December 11th, in a little more than a week from now, we’ll officially be releasing a new EP called A Whispering Moment around a very singular and unforgettable moment we shared with thousands of people in Nuremberg, Germany, during a festival called the Brückenfestival (or Brü Brü for the yearly attendees) in 2022! But today, it’s all yours to listen to, watch, and enjoy for as many times as you like!

A WHISPERING MOMENT

Little did I know at the time, but it could have been the last time I would have ever been able to commune from a stage, as I needed to have an emergency cardiac double graft surgery shortly after that uniquely fabulous night we had in Nuremberg at the end of our Not All Wonders Have Been Lost tour in the summer of 2022.

The EP A Whispering Moment highlights the freely evolving nature of the song Shadows Of Our Evening Tides from its initial incarnation and its organic bloom up to its different live forms. 

I believe this very special project not only encapsulates the incredibly personal and intimate emotions that essentially express the brokenness of my heart following my father’s passing and my long belated grieving process, but that also became a singular element for friends and loved ones to find solace in their own losses before providing comfort to many people who would later discover the hopeful nature of a record that might appear or be shallowly interpreted as a sad and weary reflection of love’s impermanence and disarray when its true essence remains finding peace and purpose in our own bleakest times.

And like most unambitious honesty and unselfishly-absorbed creative let go, Windows in the Sky would subsequently offer me the ultimate blessing to redefine my musical journey, and maybe, if not more importantly, to rewire my whole existence entirely.

This is one of the most heartfelt and soulful interpretations of the song Shadows of Our Evening Tides have ever performed live. Some will hear the band in its finest form, while others will be transported by its deep display of emotional abandonment.

Therefore, I hope that A Whispering Moment will lead you to discover or rediscover the vibrant sensations of cultivating your life — of being truly alive.
