Alex’s Special Homage to Lou Reed

Alex’s Special Homage to Lou Reed

Hey,

I hope you’re well! I have a real and uniquely typical Alex Henry Foster story to share with you today!

I had the chance to drive down to Virginia last weekend after Alex called me. “Brother, you have to come over. Our world is now tragically entering a new phase of madness, exposing the darkest sides of what human nature has to offer, and this, following two way-too-long years of pandemic. I want to sing, I want to share, and I want to release The Power of the Heart from Lou Reed - the sooner the better! We have to interpret our version of this song that he wrote as his way of asking the one who became his wife, Laurie Anderson, ‘Would you marry me?’.”

An ode to way much more than a simple “would you marry me”, but to a really powerful invitation beyond any possible fear, an invitation to expose the best and the worst allowing her and him to simply be. Lou was already envisioning how they could both become better human beings — far from perfect, but better — by sharing what always seems impossible or like a failure with an expiry date on it!

It was 6:30 pm on Friday evening when Alex called me! I left at 4:30 am the next morning!

I don’t have all the technical details about the release for now, but here’s a short glimpse of what happened no later than yesterday in Alex’s home studio in Virginia!

Today, Lou Reed would’ve turned 80 years old! There was not a better time for me to share this exclusively with you, SFCC member! Happy birthday, Lou!
To be continued...

Your Friend and Host,
Jeff
