📬 Some Important News About The Club and Alex

Hey,

I hope you’re well! I really enjoyed reading pretty much every message I received all over last week with your numerous and very generous stories and questions for Alex! I always really love reading those, since it goes in every possible direction, and I think it’s absolutely great that way! 

I’m always very thankful for your virtual dinner invitations, but I sadly had to decline them all. I’ll leave all of those to Alex, of course...! 🎉 My all-time favorite is when I’m asked to sing happy birthday to someone… this is unfortunately not going to happen, since I’m the worst singer you’ve ever met! I’ve been kicked out of a karaoke room in Tokyo once because they couldn't believe I wasn’t making fun of everyone involved by singing the way I did! I hope you’ll understand! 😀

I seriously received incredible answers and this got me really excited! Someone even shared with me about how incredible the year 2016 – as shared last week – has been musically with releases of albums such as David Bowie’s Blackstar, Radiohead’s A Moon Shaped Pool, Mitski’s Puberty 2, Leonard Cohen’s You Want It Darker, Alicia Keys’ Here, Bon Iver’s 22, A Million, Iggy Pop’s Post Pop Depression, Metallica’s Hardwired… to Self-Destruct, Green Day’s Revolution Radio, The Rolling Stones’ Blue & Lonesome, and Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds’ Skeleton Tree, which I’m listening to right now. What an incredible album. Always so delightful for me to share about music with you! 

I also received a lot of questions about the upcoming Old School packages and the new theme of The Club, so I thought I’d give you some more updates regarding this. But first, what you’ve been all asking is: “How’s Alex?”, “When is the studio getting started?”, “When is the new album coming out?”, “When will we see Alex again?” All legitimate questions I thought I’d answer now before getting any further into another topic! 

How’s Alex?

I just came back from a week in Virginia yesterday evening (Saturday, August 5) and we had an incredible time with a lot of great conversations around topics that all matter to you. It’s already been 6 months since his heart surgery, and I laugh remembering the videos I did while in Tangier last February where I was always saying he was getting better and better. Alex always strongly believed he would only have to go through 6-8 weeks of recovery. Well, we’re now at 24. But I can tell you that now he’s getting very close to the Alex I’ve always known, and this is the best news this year could bring us thus far! There have been loads of curve balls being thrown at us this year, but now, I can affirm that we’re embarking on a brand new chapter and those days are almost beyond us for real! Almost…! 

 

When is the studio getting started? 

We have an official date! I can’t divulge it to you right now, as one thing we learned since February is that we don’t control anything calendar-wise. But we have a date, and this is huge!!!!! 

 

When is the new album coming out?

I would really love to answer that one but I sadly don’t even know myself for now…! But one thing is for sure: you’ll walk with us through this incredible process once it starts, you have my word! 

 

When will we see Alex again?

I’m leaving for Tangier for a few days as I really have to! Alex and I have been working on a new project for a long time and it’s now about to see the light, so, I’ll be there from August 7 to 20 and the great news is, Alex will be joining me on August 14! This is the first trip to Tangier for Alex since September 2022! During our stay, we will sit down with him and me, and I will interview him about the numerous questions you sent me! So please, if you haven’t yet, feel free to answer this email!

 

When will the new Old School Packages be revealed? 

Since last year, we decided that September would always be the new year launching month! The packages will start being printed as I’ll be in Tangier, and I’ll start sharing parts of it with you as well as the new theme for the year!!! So, to be precise, I’ll start sharing about it in my missive of August 29! 

Hint: 2 major surprises are waiting for you! These will both be the first time we're doing it, and they are both huge things!!! If you're a New School member and would like to switch to Old School, worry not, this won’t be a problem at all...! 

I NEED YOUR HELP

As I shared with you a few weeks ago during a video, Alex and I will be starting a new way of sharing with you all pretty soon. As you’re reading this letter, I’ll be down in Virginia with Alex as I haven’t seen him in a while, and would like to get started with that.

I would like for you to send me a few questions you might have for Alex! You simply have to reply to this email, and I’ll gather those and make sure they’ll all be answered –  unless you’re asking about his favorite color… I think it’s green!

I’m so thankful again for your patience and involvement! Truly means the world! I’ll be in Tangier while you’re reading this for 2 weeks! I’ll share some love from there, especially when I’ll be with Alex as he misses you a lot too!
